The following utility providers serve Northern Colorado communities:
Electricity & Natural Gas:
Xcel Energy is Colorado’s largest utility, and the primary provider of electricity and natural gas to major urban areas and many rural areas in the state.
Poudre Valley REA is an electric cooperative serving more than 35,000 customers in rural and suburban Weld, Larimer and Boulder counties.
United Power is a rural electric cooperative, serving homes and businesses throughout Colorado’s northern Front Range, including much of south Weld County.
Atmos Energy is one of the largest natural-gas-only distributors in the U.S., serving residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and public-authority customers in Weld County.
Other utility providers include Estes Park Light and Power, SourceGas and Utility Locate Service.

Energy Production:
Colorado is the nation’s ninth-largest producer of wind power. Colorado’s net electricity generation from solar increased 20% from 2012 to 2013.
The state ranked sixth in the nation in marketed natural gas production in 2013.
Additionally, the state was seventh in the nation in crude oil production with 7,785 barrels produced in December 2014.
